know, I know, it's difficult to think of Fall when it's still hot as hell outside, but cooler weather will be here before you know it. In order to dress properly, you'll need to prepare your wardrobe for each season before it begins and there is nothing sexier than being prepared, right?
Here are a few tips in preparation for the cool nights ahead.
Inventory your closet:
Yes, some styles do make a comeback, but that doesn't mean you should still keep that jacket from 1987.
Anything hanging in your closet should be items that you are currently wearing. If they are not in season then you should put them aside and store them properly until you are ready to use them again. Throw out items that do not fit well, are old, or that have not been worn for more than two seasons.
Some garments can updated with a few tweaks so ask your tailor before throwing them out.
Keep Your Garments Tidy:
That stain has been there for how long?
Make sure that all your Fall items are cleaned and pressed before you need them. Make a run to the cleaners with any items you know you will be needing soon. Don't wait until it's cold outside to realize that your coat is in dire need of cleaning, do it now.
Proper storage will keep garments looking new. Store suits and any natural fiber garments in closed bags with cedar blocks to keep them fresh and keep the moths away.
Order tailored garments now:
Can you make that for me, yesterday?
If you are adding tailored garments to your Fall wardrobe, get it done now. The average turnaround time is six to eight weeks for custom garments. Order now so you will have them just in time for the cooler weather.
Make sure you have a formal suit in your closet for last minute events. This ensures you never get caught in a rental, more on rentals in a later blog.
